Abraji and the Talanoa Institute hold a new training session on climate adaptation reporting
Abraji and the Talanoa Institute will host the online training session “Adapting climate adaptation for a wider news agenda” this Saturday (Nov, 1) at 10:30 a.m. (Brasilia Time). The masterclass looks to reach journalists interested in understanding how climate adaptation can and should be covered across all areas of journalism. The event is free of charge and will be held in English on Abraji’s official YouTube Channel, with Portuguese subtitles available afterwards.
The session will also offer participants an opportunity to ask questions and gather story ideas for the reporting grants under the project called “A today and a tomorrow with climate adaptation”, launched by Abraji alongside the Talanoa Institute. Applications for the initiative’s first phase have been extended and will remain open until November 7.
Abraji’s executive secretary and one of the speakers Adriana Garcia emphasizes the importance of journalism in monitoring and understanding each country’s actions on the climate adaptation agenda, in order to help prevent tragedies such as the floods that struck Rio Grande do Sul in 2024.
Masterclass speakers:
- Navin Singh Khadka, environment correspondent at BBC World Service
- Mauricio Savarese, correspondent at Associated Press in Brazil
- Adriana Garcia, executive secretary at Abraji
